Lowering Heart DiseaseSaturated fat is found mostly in animal foods like meat, cheese, butter and milk.

Why is it bad for you?

Saturated fat raises your cholesterol and in turn causes plaque that clogs your arteries. Clogged arteries lead to:

  • High blood pressure
  • Stroke
  • Heart attack

Still don’t think it will affect you? In America, heart disease  is still the most likely reason you’ll die.  According to the American Heart Association, more than 910,000 Americans die of heart disease annually, and more than 70 million Americans live every day with some form of heart disease.

Prevention is key. Vegans tend to have lower body mass index, lower levels of cholesterol, lower blood pressure, and less incidents of heart disease than meat eaters. In fact, a low-fat plant based diet can reduce your risk of heart attack by 85%.
